L’huile d’olive : les bienfaits de la Méditerranée

Olive oil: the benefits of the Mediterranean

It is well known that olive oil is made up of good fats and has good properties for the body. This oil rich in trace elements and vitamins, it can be beneficial both in cooking and for body care. Here are some of the many benefits of olive oil on the human body.

Your health thanks you

  • Distant cardiovascular risks:

Indeed, olive oil contains antioxidants such as polyphenol and vitamin E, but is especially full of oleic acid which helps protect blood vessels from oxidative stress. But in French what does it mean? The process reduces the ability of fatty foods to clog arteries: less risk of clogged arteries and developing heart problems over time!

  • Chao the bad cholesterol!

The monounsaturated and oleic fatty acids present in olive oil help regulate the level of lipids in the body, it will therefore reduce the level of bad cholesterol (LDL) and promotes good cholesterol (HDL).

  • Be careful, this is not a miracle product!

Eh yes ! Olive oil remains a fatty product which can promote overweight and obesity if it is not well dosed. Specialists recommend between 2 and 4 tablespoons a day (cooking and seasoning included).

And for the body then?

  • Healthy hair:

Olive oil has many effects on the hair: it nourishes, brings a lot of shine, strengthens the hair, prolongs coloring and calms irritations of the scalp which can also reduce dandruff.

How to use it ?

  1. Make an oil bath in the evening (once a week maximum),
  2. Wrap the hair with a hot towel or cling film,
  3. Leave on for at least 1 hour,
  4. Rinse with clear water,
  5. Only shampoo the next morning.

  • Rehydrated skin:

The advantage of olive oil for the skin is that it hydrates without greasing! It will have a toning effect and will reduce wrinkles and fine lines on the skin because it limits the oxidation of cells, which reduces their aging.

How to use it ?

  • Pure directly on the skin, for this we advise you to put it a few minutes before in the fridge,
  • As a mask with an egg yolk and a little honey for a pleasant texture,
  • In lip balm to prevent chapping,
  • In his bath: 2 or 3 tablespoons of olive oil for softer skin.

Which olive oil to choose?

First of all, it is preferable to favor an extra virgin oil because it has no “extra” additions and meets more advanced taste and composition criteria such as an acidity level of less than 0.8%.

Then favor cold pressed oils, these oil transformation mechanisms preserve flavors and properties.
